About Me
When I registered to train as an Art Therapist, I already believed deeply in the power of art and the value of therapy. What I came to fully understand is how transformative they could be when brought together. Through coursework, clinical internships, and a deeply personal experiential process known as training group, I experienced Art Therapy’s capacity for healing firsthand. It reached places in me that talking alone never could. I have since been honoured to support clients who found expression through the language of art.
I am a lifelong creative with a background in addictions support, non-profit, and women’s services. My work has always centred community, connection, and dignity.
Becoming an Art Therapist felt like a natural and almost inevitable next step, and I continue to be in awe of what this modality makes possible.
I have supported those navigating trauma, poverty, violence, and major life transitions, among other life challenges. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to dignity, autonomy, and the healing potential of creative expression.
I am a certified professional member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association and am connected with local, national, and international networks of Art Therapists and helping professionals. I am committed to ongoing learning through supervision, consultation, and continued training. ~Emily Bagnald
